The Alberta Housing Act assigns responsibility for the day-to-day operation of provincial seniors' and social housing programs to Housing Management Bodies. BVRH is the management body appointed for the region encompassing the following communities.

• Kananaskis Improvement District
• The M.D. of Bighorn
• The Town of Canmore
• The Town of Banff
• Banff National Park Improvement District

The Bow Valley Regional Housing office administers and maintains a selection of affordable housing accomodations. The following programs are available to all qualifying residents of the region.

• Community Family Housing (Rent geared to income)
• Seniors' Lodges (Affordable lodging including meals)
• Seniors' Self-contained Housing (Rent geared to income)
• Rent Supplement (Financial assistance for renters)
